‘Earth Hour’ being observed today: 25 March

a) The 10th anniversary of “Earth Hour” is observed Worldwide on “25th March”.
b) This event of earth hour is held every year worldwide and consistently encouraged by Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF).

c) In this worldwide event every Individual is encouraged to turn off non-essential lights for one hour.

d) The time scheduled is from 8:30 to 9:30 PM local time of respective countries.

e) Event of  Earth Hour was firstly celebrated in Sydney, Australia, in 2007.

New name of CBEC switched to CBIC under GST 

 
a) The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) will now be reconstructed for the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
b)The CBEC will now be renamed as the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) which was approved by the Parliament.
c)  The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has ratified the reconstruction of the field formations of the CBEC for the implementation of GST.
 

SBI’s Arundhati Bhattacharya ranked among world’s greatest leaders

a) The Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI)- Mrs. Arundhati Bhattacharya bagged the 26th rank in Fortune Magazine.
b) This rank was grabbed among the world’s 50 greatest leaders, which was surveyed by the fortune magazine.
c) Now Mrs. Bhattacharya has become the only Indian Corporate leader to be featured on the list. The list has been topped by Theo Epstein President, Baseball Operations in Chicago Cubs.

Bangladesh celebrates 46th Independence Day

a) The Bangladesh celebrated its Independence Day on March 26.
b) The President of Bangladesh Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Placed Garlands at the National Memorial.
c) The Venue of the event is Savar.
d) They paid  tribute to freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom.
 

Vettel wins Australian Grand Prix

 
a)  Sebastian Vettel clinched the Australian Grand Prix for Ferrari.
b) He is now 4 time World Champion.
c) It was Sebastian Vettel’s Fourth win for Ferrari and his first since the Singapore Grand Prix which took place in September 2015.

Indian Railways to switch Wi-Fi kiosks at 500 remote stations.

 

a) Indian Railways is planning to set up Wi-Fi Hotspot kiosks at about 500 Remote stations.

b) This will help people access an array of online services and this will  also include various government schemes.
c) It is promoted as Railwire Saathi and this will provide a platform to provide services like e-commerce, online banking and much more.

d) Also the Wi-Fi will function like a P C O.

 

India becomes third largest aviation market in domestic traffic

 
a) India has been ranked third in the aviation market in terms of domestic passenger traffic.
b) India thrashed back Japan which ranked 4th in the ranking survey.
c) The second position is clinched by United States with 815 million passengers.
d) And China grabbed second position followed by China with 490 million.
e) The survey was done for the year 2016.

 

World Theatre Day observed on 27th March

a) World Theatre Day is  observed Worldwide on 27th March every year.
b) World Theatre Day was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), France.
c) For the  first time  World Theatre Day was observed  in 1962.

Repco Collaborated with National Housing Bank 

a) The Repco Home Finance Ltd (RHFL) has signed an agreement with National Housing Bank (NHB).
b) This has been done for implementation of a credit-linked subsidy scheme and will be targetting to the middle-income group of the country.
c) The scheme will be implemented for 1 year and will come into effect from January 1, 2017.
d) Scheme has divided the middle-income group into 2 categories -a) annual household income up to Rs 12 lakh and         b) annual household income up to Rs 18 lakh.
e) The subsidy in this scheme will be available for a loan amount of Rs 9 lakh and Rs 12 lakh at the rate of 4 per cent and 3 per cent per annum, .
f) The tenure of the subsidy is 20 years.
g) In the scheme maximum subsidy amount allotted to an individual – Rs 2.35 lakh.

Anupam Kher receives Kala Ratan Award from Vice President

Anupam Kher

a) The  renowned actor Anupam Kher was honored with the Kala Ratan Award Recently.
b) It was presented by Vice President Hamid Ansari at venue of  Punjab University, Chandigarh.
c) Anupam Kher was honored him with the 4th highest civilian award of Padma Shri in 2004.
d) He got 3rd highest civilian award  Padma Bhushan award in 2016 for his contribution in the field of cinema and arts.

14-year-old becomes first girl to swim from Sea Link to Gateway of India

a)  Gauri Singh became the first girl to explore the way from Sea Link near Worli  to the Gateway of India.
b) She is 14 years old and she completed the 36 km long distance in 6 hours and 30 mins.

Kolkata to host final match of FIFA U-17 World Cup: 

a) The Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata has been decided as the venue of the final of the FIFA Under 17 World Cup.
b) The FIFA world cup is to be held in 2017.
b) This time World Cup gets the slogan of the tournament and it will be “Football Takes Over”.
